The course provides a comprehensive overview of local governance in the Philippine contemporary setting. It also aims to inculcate the autonomy of local government units in the Philippines as enshrined under the 1987 Philippine Constitution. This course will also introduce to the students the salient provisions of Republic Act No. 7160, as amended, also known as the Local Government Code of 1991 which is the main source of information on local and regional governance. In addition this course will also cover special topics and current issues relating to local governance.
