This course is designed to provide students fundamental knowledge and broad understanding on how to study different languages: what it is, what it’s used for, and how it works with focus on the sound system, the internal structure of words, the grammatical structure of sentences of a certain language as well as the formation of meanings and the way these are communicated through words and larger grammatical units. It further explores both the diversity of language systems,  their fundamental similarities, variation and changes as well as   their application to English Language Teaching.
